Hamas denies Qatar’s agreement to close Hamas’ Doha office
Reporters learned on November 9 local time that several senior officials of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that reports that Qatar agreed to the US’s request to close Hamas’ political office in Doha and expel Hamas leaders were “completely unfounded.”
A senior Hamas official said in a statement that the news that Qatar wanted Hamas leaders to leave Doha was wrong and such reports were “a conspiracy.” Another senior Hamas official said that these fabricated news reports were intended to confuse and cover up Israel’s violent actions against the Palestinian people.
It is reported that the two Hamas officials are currently in Doha. A third Hamas official in Turkey also said that Israel fabricated such false news to defuse its internal crisis.
Several media reported earlier on the 9th that the United States asked Qatar to close Hamas’ political office in Doha and expel Hamas leaders living in Doha because Hamas rejected a latest proposal for a ceasefire and exchange of detained persons in the Gaza Strip.
Another Israeli diplomat said Qatar has decided to end its role as mediator between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
