Anhui’s GDP grew 5.4% year-on-year in the first three quarters
On the morning of October 23, a press conference on the economic operation of Anhui Province in the first three quarters of 2024 was held in Hefei. According to the unified accounting results of regional GDP, the province’s regional GDP in the first three quarters was 3725.7 billion yuan, calculated at constant prices, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%. In terms of industries, the added value of the primary industry was 205.4 billion yuan, an increase of 2.7%; the added value of the secondary industry was 1541.1 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 1979.2 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3%.
In the first three quarters, the economic operation of Anhui Province was stable and rising, and the growth rate of major economic indicators was stable and positive. The GDP increased from 5.2% in the first quarter and 5.3% in the first half of the year to 5.4% in the first three quarters. The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased from 7.6% in the first quarter and 8.5% in the first half of the year to 8.8% in the first three quarters; the industrial structure was optimized, and the province continued to focus on strengthening and optimizing the real economy, focusing on the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries on the one hand, and the development and growth of strategic emerging industries on the other hand. It accelerated the creation of emerging industrial clusters around key areas such as automobiles, new materials, and new generation information technology. The growth of modern service industry was also relatively strong, and the operating income of business services and science and technology services above designated size achieved double-digit growth; at the same time, the province deeply implemented the special action of effective investment, and effective investment continued to expand.
The growth rate of investment in manufacturing industry has remained above 10% for 45 consecutive months, and the number of large projects has continued to increase. There are 217 projects with a total investment of more than 5 billion yuan, 35 more than the same period last year; in addition, in response to new situations and new problems in economic operation, the central government, the provincial party committee and the provincial government have issued a series of policy measures to support the stable operation of the economy, especially the package of policies issued since the third quarter, and the effect of these policies is relatively obvious. In September, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 11.5%, the highest since April 2021, the total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 6%, the highest in the year, and the sales area of commercial housing increased by 35.5% from August.
From the overall data, the province’s industrial production performed well in the first three quarters and maintained a relatively fast growth. Since the beginning of this year, the growth rate of industrial added value above designated size in the province has been leading the country, from 1.5 percentage points in the first quarter, 2.5 percentage points in the first half of the year, to 3 percentage points in the first three quarters; at the same time, in the first three quarters, among the 41 major industries above designated size in the province, 35 industries had year-on-year growth in added value, with a growth rate of 85.4%, an increase of 2.5 percentage points over the first half of the year; the “ballast stone” role of equipment manufacturing industry has become more prominent. In the first three quarters, the added value of equipment manufacturing industry in the province increased by 16.2% year-on-year, and the contribution rate to the growth of industrial above designated size in the province reached 70.2%, driving the growth of industrial above designated size by 6.2 percentage points; it is worth mentioning that with the province’s accelerated cultivation of new quality productivity, the added value of high-tech manufacturing industry above designated size in the province has continued to grow by more than 20% since the beginning of this year, and increased by 22.7% in the first three quarters, 0.4 percentage points faster than the first half of the year. Among them, electronic and communication equipment manufacturing, aerospace and equipment manufacturing have maintained double-digit growth.
