MacBook Air 2013: MacBook Air is a leader in a market of ultrabooks.

The term “ultrabook” started in 2011 and means ultra thin and light laptop, which has an smaller size and weight compared with usual laptops, but has most characteristic features of a full-fledged laptop. Such a laptop has no DVD-ROM drive and has fast SSD-drive.

ABI Research notes that Apple surpasses its competitors on total score. The level of innovations and introduction of the Mac’s products in average is 84.7 points of a possible 100. Lenovo has taken the second place, and Samsung – third, with 77.5 and 74.4 points respectively. Between vendors who wasn´t on the top three were the company Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, LG, Sony, Toshiba and Vizio.

In the category “the level of implementation” experts evaluated the presence of vendors in the market, the breadth of geographical coverage and strategy, product stock, partners and activities to support the market. The researchers found that by “the level of implementation” Apple is far ahead of its competitors. Its global presence, judicious marketing strategy and laptops MacBook Air, which leader in market share brings a success to Apple. According to the forecast of ABI Research, till the end of 2012 Apple delivered three times more ultrabooks than its nearest competitor.

“The market of ultrabooks developing is not as fast as some had expected,” – says ABI Research senior analyst Joshua Flood. The main factors of this are the growing popularity of tablets, the high retail price of ultrabooks, and late issue of Windows 8.
